AoE GrindingPicking up, once again, where we left off. Today’s guide will cover AoE grinding in the 50s. For those of you keeping track (or rather, haven’t been keeping track), here are parts one, two and three. So far, we’ve already covered talents, the pull, ideal types of mobs, and areas to grind in the 30s and 40s. Let’s keep on truckin’!

The 50s

The beginning of the 50s may provide a bit of a lull in grinding locations. You may find yourself “sticking” in areas you’ve been before, like Sorrow Hill in the Western Plaguelands, but the mid-50s will jump-start the action again.

Western Plaguelands

Once you’ve had enough of Sorrow Hill, you can move on to the two northern cauldrons in the Western Plaguelands. The mobs here are a bit higher level than the ones found in Sorrow Hill, but aren’t quite as high as the ones found in the other fields found in this zone. The mobs to go after here are the Skeletal Flayers, Slavering Ghouls, Skeletal SorcerersRotting Cadavers, Skeletal Terrors, and Blighted Zombies. These mobs range in level from 50 to 54, making them ideal for players level 48 to 52.

When you’ve finished with those mobs, you can move on to other parts of the Western Plaguelands, such as the Ruins of Andorhal or the other cauldrons to the southeast of the locations noted on the map above.

Eastern Plaguelands

Point A on the map above, also known as Corin’s Crossing in the central part of the Eastern Plaguelands provides a pretty solid grinding location. The Scourge Warders, Gibbering GhoulsUnseen Servants and Hate Shriekers found there range in level from 55 to 57, making them ideal for players level 53 to 55.

Point B on the map above, also known as Zul’Mashar in the northern part of the Eastern Plaguelands has a variety of trolls you can work your magic on. The mobs of Zul’Mashar (Mossflayer Cannibals, Mossflayer Shadowhunters, and Mossflayer Scouts) range in level from 57 to 59, making them great for players level 55 to 57.

Point C on the map above corresponds to another favorite grinding spot of mine, just to the west of Light’s Hope Chapel. You’ll find a wide variety of mobs here (including casters), fairly densely packed and with a reasonably quick respawn rate. The mobs here range in level from 57 to 60, making them ideal for players level 55 to 58.

Once you hit 58, you can either proceed directly to Outland, or you can continue grinding in Azeroth. There are lots of great locations to grind for players in the very late 50s.

Winterspring

If the Plaguelands aren’t to your liking, there are several alternative grinding spots to be found in Winterspring.

At Point A on the map above, just south-east of Everlook, you’ll find the Ice Thistle Yetis, Ice Thistle Patriarchs and Ice Thistle Matriarchs. In addition to being the objective of a couple quests, these mobs range in level from 55 to 58, making them great for players level 53 to 56.

At Points B and C on the map above, you’ll find the Berserk Owlbeasts, Crazed Owlbeasts and Moontouched Owlbeasts. These mobs range in level from 56 to 59, making them great for players level 54 to 57.

Deadwind Pass

The ogres found in Deadwind Pass offer another alternative spot for players in the mid-50s. The Deadwind Brutes, Deadwind Maulers, Deadwind Ogre Mages and Deadwind Warlocks range in level from 55 to 58, making them ideal for players level 53 to 56.

Alternatively, you can also pay a visit to Silithus or the Burning Steppes, though these zones are populated primarily by beasts and dragonkin. This is good news for skinners, but that’s about it.

Recap

  1. Western Plaguelands (48 to 54)
  2. Eastern Plaguelands (53 to 58)
  3. Winterspring (53 to 57)
  4. Deadwind Pass (53 to 56)

With the 50s behind you, you’ll be ready to move into the first expansion content: Outland! Really enjoyed the post! Was just asking about where to grind at lvl 53-54, so it couldn’t have come at a better time! Thanks!

Glad you enjoyed it! One for the 60s will be along shortly, followed by one for the 70s. :)

Great guide. Can I put in a word for The Weeping Cave in Western Plaguelands? It’s at 65.38 and is full of oozes, slimes, behemoths and the like ranging from 54 to 57 with the chance of a rare silver elite The Husk, 62, from time to time. The mobs spawn as fast as you can kill them. At 54 I can handle about 7 /8 at a time giving around 2.4K xp per fight. Be ready for a lot of cleansing! As a bonus it spawns a couple of decent thorium veins now and then.
